The Great Tsechu Cham Ceremony

On March 28th 2026, the Great Tsechu Cham took place in Mindrolling Monastery in India. This drubchö is held for three days beginning on the 8th day of the 2nd lunar month and culminating on the 10th day with the great cham (ritual dance) ceremony.

The drubchö is accomplished according to the Lama Sangdu sadhana, which was revealed by the great treasure master Guru Chöwang and later revived by Terdag Lingpa.

This ritual is greatly revered as the sacred ritual dance performed at Zangdog Palri — the Copper-Coloured Mountain —the pure realm of Guru Padmasambhava, which was perceived by Guru Chöwang through clear vision of pure appearance. In particular, the ritual removes all outer, inner, and secret obstacles to the path of enlightenment through the blessings of Guru Rinpoche’s wondrous eight manifestations.

The complete ritual, in all its authentic detail, has been safeguarded and kept alive in Mindrolling since the time of its founder, Chögyal Terdag Lingpa. With the exception of only few years due to the historical turmoil, this profound sadhana and ritual dance has been accomplished annually since the 17th century.

This year’s ceremony was blessed with the presence of Minling Dungse Rinpoche, Minling JetsĂ¼n Rinpoche, Kyabje Khochhen Rinpoche, Kyabje Rigo Tulku Rinpoche, Kyabje Tulzhig Yangsi, Penam Rinpoche and many other tulkus, khenpos, monastics and lay sangha members.

To witness this sacred cham brings immense blessings, and a great assembly of monastic and lay sangha gathered to pay homage and supplicate to the great Vajra Guru, whose presence and blessings palpably filled the environment.

May the compassion and powerful blessings of Guru Rinpoche dispel the darkness of ignorance, grant all favorable circumstances, and cause the dawning of wisdom in the minds of all sentient beings.
